Dairy substitutes for a dairy lover

I get it... you LOVE dairy and hate when any one tells you that you should give it up.  

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love cheese but I know that my body doesn’t. I'm a former dairy lover but realized some time ago that it didn't love me back (plus it sabotagues my weight goals).  

From personal experience and in my practive, I've seen great improvements in symptoms with those who suffer from sinus troubles, asthma and congestion when dairy is avoided.  Furthermore, in those with ovarian or breasts cysts, avoiding dairy has also been highly beneficial in reducing size and tenderness of the effected tissue 

Today, I’m sharing a list of dairy alternatives for you.  The options may take some getting used to but your insides may breathe a huge sign of relief.   

Here’s the list:

Instead of milk try...

Almond milk, coconut milk or hemp milk (try in your cereal, tea or coffee or recipes when milk is called for)

Instead of yogurt from cow’s milk try...

Coconut milk yogurt

Instead of cream cheese try...

Mashed avocado, hummus or a nut/seed butter like cashew, almond or sunflower 

Instead of butter try...

Coconut oil  (delicious on a baked yam or sweet potato) or a vegan spread like Earth’s Balance

Instead of sour cream try...

Guacamole

Instead of cheese (I know, this is a hard one) try....

Making cashew cheese, chunks of avocado, rice cheese or a soy cheese

Instead of ice cream try...  

Sorbet or a coconut milk based ice cream 

It takes time to cut back and make transitions so start small and be patient with yourself. 

Since dairy provides Vit D and B12, make sure to supplement with a vitamin to supply your daily needs (let me know if you need a good source).
