Immune Support

The immune system is stressed on a regular basis. Whether it’s from germs or a busy schedule that has you feeling run down, healthy and balanced immunity keeps the body strong.

Below you’ll find a few of my favorite food items and products to nourish and support the immune system. 

I love the following foods:

  • Ginger

  • Green onion

  • Garlic

  • Clove

  • Cinnamon 

  • Berries

  • Limes

  • Thyme

  • Oregano

  • Echinacea 

  • Dark leafy greens such as chard, boy choi and arugula.

Make sure to choose what resonates with your body. You only want to incorporate what will be a friend, not foe to anything going on with your health. Check with your healthcare provider to be sure.

When someone in my house is under the weather I’ll add immune supportive ingredients to as many dishes as possible.

For example: 

Chan Masala (or Indian chickpea stew) with plenty of extra ginger and garlic to taste

Miso soup with loads of green onions

A hearty Moroccan stew with cloves, ginger and cinnamon

Roasted chicken or roasted portobello mushrooms with garlic and fresh thyme

Roasted squash with garlic and fresh oregano

Limeade with raw honey

Teas made from either or some combination of cinnamon, clove, thyme or oregano
