How to stay healthy when partnering & falling in love

It happens…

You fall all silly in love

and find a partner you care to keep around for an extended portion of your life journey. Then suddenly, you forget all about your health & wellness goals.

Sure there are occasions where two unite you to create a super power couple of health and fitness but I dare to say that that scenario is probably the exception to the rule.

Ok, so maybe me and my husband are 3/4 of a super power couple of health and fitness.

When we were both already into hiking, yoga, veggie burgers, huge salads and fresh, cold pressed juices (I know... so LA).

But over time you get comfortable and somehow engage in a lot more eating coupled with a lot less physical activity.

It's really easy to fall off the wellness wagon when schedules get busy or when a new fun not-good-for-you restaurant is discovered.

Or we may just sit around, watch movies and indulge in being lazy.

(there I said it-- it happens to me, too)

We are on an upswing now feeling fit, healthy and ready to live life to the fullest.

Here are a few tips that have worked well for our wellness (pun intended).

Hope you enjoy…

1. Set goals-

They don't have to be lofty but at least estabilsih a target for your wellness efforts.  Maybe you want to fit in an old pair of jeans, run a 1/2 marathon, get your cholesterol down, reduce bloating.  You just gotta have a taret.

2. Try a weight management program-

...like my Shed the Pounds program ;)

3. Support each other-

Share your goals with your partner and engage in activites with them, cheer them on, be positive and encouraging.

4. Food shop wisely-

Do not permit food in the house that is not in alignment with your goals.  You know if you see it, you'll eat it.

5. Make a list of activities that you can enjoy as a family or couple that require movement-

Hiking, bike riding, long walks, skiing, kayaking are a few ideas...

6. Find a work out you both enjoy-

If you are going to commit to working out you want to enjoy it.  Determine what you like (it doesn't have to be the same as your partner but it helps) so it's something you look forward to.

7. Try new healthy recipes-

Eating well doesn't mean you have to skimp on flavor.  Find new recipes that are tasty and healthy.  I have several here on my blog-- search "recipes".

8. Hold each other accountable-

Don't let each other slip.

Hope you've enjoyed.  Thank you!

Blessings...
